To Wear The Laces is simple: purchase special red shoe laces with the Special Olympics logo emblazoned on them. Take out your old boring laces, thread in the new ones, and show you are a fan and supporter of Special Olympics sport programs for people with intellectual disabilities.

The Aim of the Campaign
You will show you believe in acceptance, respect, inclusion and human dignity. The aim of the  “Wear the Laces” campaign is to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics internationally. The symbolic aim of the project is to get people to walk side by side, tied together by a common thread of respect and inclusion.

YOU, in the Laces
When YOU ‘Wear the Laces’ YOU are making it possible for the Special Olympics movement to transform more lives through the power of sport. And you declare that YOU are a fan of dignity and inclusion.

The “Wear the Laces” Campaign launched in eight European countries in September 2010 in the run up to the Warsaw 2010 European Games and will be coming to Monaco next year.

"My team mates and I wear the Laces to show the world that we are tied together with Special Olympics," said Italy prop Andrea Lo Cicero. "There are millions of people with intellectual disabilities and they are often a forgotten group. We are united in promoting respect, acceptance and inclusion in sport for everyone.”
